Our September Meeting

We had a good meeting yesterday, where everybody felt a little more "at ease" discussing different aspects of our trip together.
Eneas described "Les Miserables", the play he enjoyed very much, and which he'd like everybody to see instead of "Billy Elliot". I must say I haven't seen either of them, but today I met two friends who have, and they coincided in that "Les Miserables" is a very good musical, but rather gloomy, as it conveys a feeling of darkness, poverty and opression. They both agree that a "lighter" musical, with more fun and lively music would be the best for you all, but I'll book it anyway because it's been your choice.

Anyway, I haven't received an answer from London yet, even when early this morning I sent them another email reminding them of the deadline they had told me about, and saying I am ready to pay. I'll let you know when I have booked all the tickets successfully.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 28, in October, at the same time, in the same place. It's important that EVERYBODY comes, because we are all getting to know each other better, and because many questions are answered.

Those students present chose their English cities to work on, and I MUST say I have already seen a fabulous job three of you are doing on Brighton... Want to see it?... Go to our Google Site, you'll LOVE it, even though it's not finished yet!!

So there are a couple of places which need some writers..., like Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and Bath. Those who haven't been allotted one, send me a message with your choice.

And one last thing: I'll be sending the "written Permit" that you must complete and get authorized to hand it in before travelling, or else I can still give it out during our next meeting in October.

I hope I'll see you ALL next time,

Rita

VOTING NEEDED

Hi, all,

As our Paris Coordinator is in Rosario for a couple of days, we had a meeting this morning with those travelling to Paris so that they could get together, and Eneas made a suggestion: he'd like to see "Les Miserables" instead of "Billy Elliot". So I'd like EVERYONE to VOTE as soon as possible, to decide it democratically..

So click HERE and complete the table writing your names under the option you prefer.

The deadline will be next Tuesday 28, since I need to pay for the booking before the end of September, remember ...?

Aidana, Maria Virginia and Lucia Macarena's GREAT JOB

Last week I got an email from Aidana, where she volunteered to work on the city of Cambridge in our GOOGLE Site, together with two friends of hers, Maria Virginia and Lucia Macarena. Of course I said yes!!..., and if you go to our site you'll be able to appreciate the wonderful job they did, summarizing facts and publishing photos they found on the web, to give us all a good, precise general view of Cambridge, a city we all love from the distance...

Thank you, dear girls, it's another excellent example of your commitment and hard work!

CONGRATS to ELEVEN of you!

CONGRATS to all ELEVEN of you, guys, who have successfully completed the chart for your preferences in our GOOGLE SITE.

There are still many left, and it's important that EVERYBODY in the group states their preferences regarding the day trips during the three Sundays we'll stay in England. At the moment the information I mostly need is the number of seats to see "Billy Elliot", so that I can book them before the end of September.
So, those who have not completed the chart yet, please, go to our GOOGLE SITE and do so, as ELEVEN travellers have already done.

Let me know if you have any trouble.

Billy Elliot: Santi's and Emiliano's wonderful work !!!

CONGRATULATIONS, dear Santi and Emiliano, on the wonderful work you did for us in our Google Site.
For those who haven't seen it yet, it's a very good summary they've made on the information they´ve found in the web, to provide all of us with a general idea of what this play is like and what it deals with. To find it, click on the "Billy Elliot" link on the Navigation area on your left, once you enter our Google Site.
You can even add your comment to Santi's contribution!

What the boys have done is a perfect example of what you are all supposed to do as soon as you see your names distributed among the many names of the English cities we are going to visit, to have some knowledge of the places we will explore once in England.

Stay tuned..., by the end of September you will be able to do your own good work!!!

OUR GOOGLE SITE: OPENED

Dear all,

You must have received the invitation to join our Google Site, where you will have to look for information on ONE place each, so that we share and learn together before the trip.

If you happened not to have received it, please, let me know. Your names are not there yet, but what I have put up is a form to see what excursions you would like to add to the programme the school sent me, which is also there.

You'll have all the instructions on the site. I've just seen Yania has already completed it, congrats, Yani!!!!

I'll be looking forward to seeing your preferences, so that we can have the tours booked in advance, if possible.

REPORT ON MEETING

Hi, all!!

This is just to let EVERYBODY know what we discussed at the meeting we had yesterday, August 31, with 24 travellers present and 5 parents.

For those going to Paris:
* It was difficult to get the 20 seats on the plane back for February 4, and the system got the 20 seats for the plane on February 5, which means that we will be staying ONE MORE NIGHT, and one more day in Paris. And this also means that there is ONE MORE night at the hotel we'll be staying, so it is impossible to keep the same price for the total amount of expenses.

The proposal was: either staying on a waiting list for February 4 (which is rather risky) or accepting the extra night.
The agent in England proposed paying for the 5th night but NOT paying then for the expenses the tour to Paris originally included. I am checking out how much this will be exactly, but believe it will not be more than 100 dollars.

Parents present at the meeting thought the second choice is a better one, but I need to know what you ALL think about this, so please, tell your parents and let me know.

EXTRA EXCURSIONS for all.

With the school we will visit London once, then Oxford and then Cambridge during the three Saturdays we will be there.
So I have sent an email to Discovery Tours in Brighton to have THREE more day trips during the three Sundays we will have free.

And these are the options with the aproximate prices:

* London (a second visit, as one will NOT be enough!) 25 pounds
* Stratford and the Cotswolds 30 pounds
* Leeds Castle and Canterbury 35 pounds

I am also thinking of going to the theatre in the Theatre District in London, to see Billy Elliot, a famous play worth watching.

And we might also visit Bath if you agree. In this case I would ask permission to be absent from school one day.

PLEASE, let me know what you all think, and I will proceed accordingly.

Rita
